At your disposal is the option to upgrade the security of your cards by integrating a data or microprocessor chip. While the chip is integrated into loyalty cards, access keys, club or company passes, debit, credit, or identification cards, its memory allows for more advanced functions. With the range of storage capacities available, it may be used to run a variety of applications including those with stringent security requirements. SIM cards for GSM phones are an example; the chip on the cards is detachable. The chip offers the following security features:

  • Access Control
The advantage in the chip is its hard-wired security logic that limits access to specific customized equipment, preventing it form manipulation, while allowing easy and cheap modification of the data.
  • Authentication
Special equipment verify the information stored on the chip against the personalized variable data on the card.
  • Certification
Certification of the holder may be carried by encoded or biometric data; on identification cards for example, fingerprints may be stored on the chip.
  • Memory protection
Unlike magnetic strips, information is secure from unintentional deletion, by magnetic fields for example, and is secured from duplication. The data on the chip is encrypted and may only be modified by specific equipment.
